In India, Lafarge is working to promote a culture of safety that applies to all employees, contractors and subcontractors, on and off Lafarge's sites.
Lafarge India has introduced a series of measures to reduce the frequency and severity of work-related accidents and to reach its target of zero fatal accidents and keep lost time injuries to a minimum. For this Lafarge in India
Lafarge India has launched 'Surakshit Bharat' project to promote road safety amongst the local communities around the site areas. Wall paintings, street plays and interactive games are some of the mediums used.

The health of Lafarge employees is important to our success. As part of Sustainability Ambitions, a comprehensive group-wide occupational health program has been introduced that includes regular medical exams for al its employees. These comprehensie health programmes ensure regular access to medical check-ups and hospital care.
Lafarge India also provides health checkups for labourers at its warehouses and railway siddings. |

Promoting public health programs |

Under the 'Swasth Bharat' project Lafarge India has organized health camps for the local comunities in and around the plant and project sites to provide them with free access to doctors, medicines and medical advice.
Lafarge also operates mobile dispensaries covering over 13 villages and reaching out to more than 20,000 patients annually. The company has also launched local community health centers at Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh. |
